David Sneddon has written songs for the Matt Cardle album

Fame Academy alumnus and Leon Jackson prototype, David Sneddon, has reportedly ‘penned’ (CO-penned, surely) some songs for ‘serious musician’ Matthew Cardle’s debut album, ‘Letters’. Guy Chambers and Gary Barlow have also written tracks for the ‘Travis meets Snow Patrol’ sounding record.

In 2009, the ‘Stop Living the Lie’ hitmaker was hired by Sony/ATV Music Publishing as a songwriter for Syco and Universal Music. Since then he has written somes songs for Julian Peretta and (you’d better have a sit down) the Hurts album including ‘Illuminated’ (yes, way), ‘Silver Lining’ and ‘Blood, Tears and Gold’. Well done, David.

You’ll be able to hear the Sneddo-collabo when Letters is released on October 17, just in time for Matt to perform Barlow cast off ‘Run For Your Life’ live on that X Factor programme.

N-Dubz have had a row on a bus.

N-Dubz have reportedly had a bit of a row on a bus this week. The ruckus broke out over revelations that Tulisa is to use an X-Factor live performance, planned for the band, to launch her solo material instead.

A source (possibly a na na naaaiiightbus conductor) told The Sun, “It all got completely out of hand on the bus on Friday night. Instead of N-Dubz performing on the show, Tulisa is planning to use a key slot on the show to promote her solo career”.

En route to perform at Burnley’s prestigious Towneley Park, Tulisa also told the band of her hopes to ‘break the US’. “Tulisa told the band how she was getting close to fellow X Factor judge Kelly Rowland and how they had discussed her cracking America. She has even talked about a collaboration with Kelly”.

Dappy won’t be happy.

Matt Cardle’s new stuff sounds like “Coldplay and Travis”

Credible singer Matt Cardle has been compared to some of the UK’s most exciting groups including Coldplay and Travis. Serious recording artist bonus points there, surely.

Matt (WHO WRITES HIS OWN SONGS) is currently collaborating with ‘Insatiable’ hitmaker Guy Chambers. Chambers told The Sunwhat to expect from the X Factor winner’s debut release coming soon to a live show appearance near you. “He’s like a cross between Coldplay, Travis and Snow Patrol”.

The songwriter who CO-WROTE two songs for Cardle’s forthcoming album added, “It’s very accessible but it’s also very powerful and emotive. He’s got some really good tracks and he’s a very nice guy”.

Chambers added that the ‘When We Collide’ singer had a long way to go to match the success of fellow show winner and ‘I Got You’ hitmaker Leona Lewis. “I hope he’ll be a success but obviously it will be hard for him to compete with Leona Lewis because she is a worldwide hit”.

Olly Murs will be a wonderful Xtra Factor host

Celebrity hat wearer Olly Murs believes that his Xtra Factor will improve upon 2010’s vintage season.

Setting the bar inordinately high, Murs has vowed to better the performance of erstwhile Xtra Factor host and master of empathy Konnie Huq. The ‘You Are Not Alone’ collaborator told The Sun, “Caroline and I can bring a more personal touch and get to know the contestants really well like Dermot does.”

In a warning to this year’s hopefuls he said “”We are also going to be like their mates. I hope my experience of the show will rub off on the contestants and we’ll get the best out of them.”

In the strangest analogy since calling Konnie “great”, Murs said of this year’s X Factor shake up “I always look at things like football teams. In any business you have to refresh. No one is bigger than the club”. The show runner-up was also full of praise for newcomer Gary Barlow. “He’s got such a dry sense of humour. One contestant sang Beyonce’s Irreplaceable…and Gary went, ‘Yeah, we were hoping you’d keep going to the left because it was that bad’”.

Can you imagine the LOLs? Can you?!

Xtra Factor starts on August 20th.

There are apparently some guitars on the new One Direction album

One Direction are rumoured to be working on an ‘edgier’ sound for their debut album.

The X Factor alums who famously moshed out to ‘You Are So Beautiful’ during Rock Week have employed the production talents of US-based punk pop producer Matt Squire.

According to The Sun, a source said of the 1D album, “It’s got more of a guitar influence than people expect. The lads aren’t going down the dance route”. Which is a relief.

Squire’s production CV includes Good Charlotte, 3OH!3 and Panic! At The Disco and apparently one track he’s recorded with Harry Styles and Co. titled ‘Nah Nah Nah’ has SyCo execs all aflutter.

It’s important to note that in recent times, Matt Squire has also twiddled knobs for other hard rock acts like Selena Gomez, David Archuleta, Katy Perry and Brian McFadden.

We’ll hear this new sound when One Direction will release their first single in September.

Tom The Wanted “didn’t sing for years” after X Factor audition

The Wanted’s Tom Parker has spoken about his failed X Factor audition in 2004.

The Bolton bad-boy told Metro that he “didn’t sing for years” after he was given a no in the preliminary rounds before meeting the X Factor judges. “It (was) a no before I even finished the chorus. I was 16 and it shattered me”.

Tom says his unique and original choice of song ‘Flying Without Wings’ by Westlife was “a big mistake because it’s your typical boyband song”.

He did finally get the chance to sing for Simon Cowell when The Wanted performed ‘Lose My Mind’ on the show last year.

The X Factor live final is coming to Wembley

X Factor bosses (i.e. Simon and Sinitta) will shake up this year’s series with a huge arena-style live final at Wembley Arena.

According to The Sun, the next Leon Jackson will be crowned in front of 12,500 Wembley audience – including Mr. Cowell himself who will fly in from The US X Factor to be there.

A show ‘insider’ reportedly said “We are very excited about making it bigger and better – with a bigger venue, bigger-name guests and more audience members and celebrities than ever before.”

The X Factor live shows usually take place at nearby Fountain Studios, with an audience capacity of just 300. From 300 to 12,500? No pressure then.
