Way back in May we brought you the news that US label Cherrytree Records would be throwing a big old music showcase/launch thing in London soon. Well last night that thing happened. With Cherrytree having acts like Far East Movement, Frankmusik and Natalia Kills on the label – it wasn’t tough to find someone to provide the entertainment.
Surprise opener at King’s College London Student’s Union was Ellie Goulding who had earlier tweeted “May or may not be singing a song somewhere tonight.” The tease.
Cherrytree newbie Colette Carr kicked off proceedings officially, ending with current single, ‘We Do It (Primo)’ featuring a sample from label mates Keane. Natalia Kills followed up with an acoustic rendition of former PJ Song of the Day ‘Free’ before raising the pace with performances of ‘Wonderland’ and ‘Mirrors’. So far, so quite good.
Next to be picked from the Cherrytr…sorry we won’t go there…next up was local boy and all round amazing popstar/producer Frankmusik who sort of hogged the stage for a bit playing a total of 6 tracks including soon to be released ‘Do It In The AM’ joined by Far East Movement. At this point Far East Movement decided they’d had enough of Frankmusik and stayed on to play a few of their own tunes only to get him back up on stage to accompany them on new single ‘Rocketeer’. LMFAO rounded up what was an otherwise very pleasant evening of pop music tunage.
Oh and MNEK and Taylor Momsen were also spotted there. Lovely.
